2023 Auction Letter

Hello FASA Auction Participants!

We are in the midst of getting ready for the 34th annual conference of the Folk Art Society in Richmond, Va., which will be October 26-29, 2023. We hope that you are planning to come!

It’s time to send in a donation for the society’s Benefit Auction. We would like paintings, sculpture, fabrics, jewelry, ceramics and books. It doesn’t need to be folk art – any kind of art would be welcomed!

The auction benefits the Herbert W. Hemphill Jr. Memorial Art Fund, which goes to purchase or renovate a work of art for donation to a museum or university. Proceeds from the auction also support the publication of the Folk Art Messenger, as the regular membership fee does not cover the cost.

This is the Folk Art Society only fund-raising event, and its success depends on your generous contributions and participation. The online auction runs from September 23 to October 22, and everyone can take part in the bidding online. Photographs and descriptions of each item will be on the FASA auction site at: http://www.biddingforgood.com/fasa. High bids from the online auction become opening bids for the live event. The live auction will be October 28, at the Richmond Omni Hotel, and one must be there in person to participate.

Click here: Donate Items to tell us about what you would like to donate. The form will ask for item information as well as digital photographs. Then ship your donations as soon as possible by US Postal Service, UPS or FedEx to: Ann Oppenhimer, 4108 Cambridge Road, Richmond, VA 23221.

Randall Lott, chairman of the auction, can answer any questions you may have by emailing him at: peskyaw@yahoo.com.
