This survey exhibition will include approximately 30 quilts created by artist Mary Lee Bendolph from the 1950s through recent years. The artist, who is from Gee's Bend, Alabama, comes from a family with generations of talented quilt makers. Bendolph worked in textile-related fields until 1992, when she retired and then had more time to devote to quilting. A 1999 Los Angeles Times Pulitzer Prize-winning article entitled "Crossing Over: Mary Lee's Vision" profiled her life up to that point.
