OAXACA 2018

Folk Art Society Members are Invited to Tour Oaxaca, Mexico!

After 30 years of Folk Art Society annual conferences in the United States, we’re embarking on an international approach for 2018.

This special tour is designed for FASA’s sphere of interest by the tour company Traditions Mexico and Peggy Gaustad, a Spanish-speaking, experienced specialist in tours to Cuba and Oaxaca.

Enjoy folk art and contemporary art; visit artists’ studios, collectors’ homes, museums, the renowned Monte Alban archeological site and Oaxacan market day in a city known as one of the art capitals of Mexico for its folk art, textiles and pottery. Oaxaca is also a center of gastronomy, and we’ll enjoy home-cooked meals as well as dining in world-class restaurants.

The plan is to stay in the centrally located, historical Quinta Real Hotel where we will hold a one-day meeting of the Folk Art Society group, with a symposium, awards, banquet and “suitcase-style” auction (meaning the auction of small-size items that will fit in a suitcase).
